Winnie Mae (Condon) Saffle

Winnie Mae Saffle, age 102, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, October 17, 2011 in Katy, Texas. Winnie Mae was born on April 29, 1909 to William W. and Julia Condon in Goldthwaite, Texas. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1925 and Simmons University (now Hardin Simmons University) in 1929. She was a school teacher prior to marriage and again after raising their children. She was married to Edgar Floyd “Dink” Saffle on July 11, 1931 in Abilene, Texas. They lived throughout West Texas much of their married life until they moved from Petersburg, Texas to Mountain Grove, Missouri in 1952. She has lived in Katy with her daughter and family since 1986.
Winnie Mae was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years in 1984 as well as two sons: Capt. Edgar Joe Saffle in 1967 and B.A. “Buddy” Saffle in 1988; her brother Buel Condon, and daughter-in-law Doris Crabtree Saffle.
Winnie Mae is survived by son, Rex D. Saffle and his wife Jeri of Lubbock, Texas; daughter, Shirley Mae Saffle and her husband Joe Lester of Katy, Texas; daughters-in-law: Murlene Brown Saffle of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Janet Saffle Rainey of Springfield, Missouri; eight grandchildren: Sonja Saffle, Doug Saffle, Beverly Saffle DeLaCruz, Lisa Saffle Glover, Jeffrey Lester, Derek Lester, Phillip Lester, Susan Lester; ten great-grandchildren: Nicole, Kristi, Sarah, George Allen, James, Andrew, Blake, Brooke, Bailee and Matthew; and seven great-great-grandchildren: Angel, Michael, Mackenzie, Hailey, Mariah, Ethan, Brenleigh; and family members: Sheri, George, Wade, Juli, Shaun, and Richard.
Memorial gifts may be made to a Christian charity of the giver’s choice to continue Winnie Mae’s commitment to the Great Commission.
