Winifred J. Gaddis, daughter of the late William and Charolette (Baker) Lawrence, was born on April 10, 1922 in Lawrence, Kansas and departed this life on December 7, 2014 at Christian Health and Rehab in Springfield, Missouri. She was 92 years, 7 months, 27 days of age.
Winifred was born in Lawrence, Kansas. Her family moved to the Mountain Grove, Missouri area in the early 1930s. Winifred graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1939. She was united in marriage to James William Gaddis on April 5, 1942. Six children were born to this union: Jim Bill, Dorothy, Larry, Eugene, Sue Ann, and Theresa.
Winifred retired from Brown Shoe Company after working there for 36 years. Then, she continued working another 30 years babysitting in her home.
She greatly enjoyed quilting, flowers, vegetable gardens, and cooking. Winifred will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: James William Gaddis; one son: Jim Bill Gaddis; and one daughter: Dorothy Kimball.
She is survived by two sons: Larry Gaddis and his wife, Judy, of Morrisville, Missouri, and Eugene Gaddis and his wife, Linda, of Mountain Grove, Missouri; two daughters: Sue Ann Sanden and her husband, Jim, of Wright City, Missouri, and Theresa Liniger and her husband, Fred, of Ozark, Missouri; two sisters: Joan Yocum and Carolyn Simmons; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation: Tuesday, December 9, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
Burial: Hillcrest Cemetery
