Wilma Rose Willie Carty, one of ten children born to the late Lee and Verna (Hicks) Sympson, was born May 12, 1933 in Grand Island, Nebraska and departed this life on August 19, 2014 in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center of Mountain Grove, Missouri, following a short illness. She was 81 years, 3 months, and 7 days of age.
Willie was united in marriage to Paul Carty on August 26, 1952 in Marshalltown, Iowa. One daughter, Paula, was born to this union. They made their home in the Mountain Grove area for many years. Mr. Carty passed away on February 9, 2014.
Willie was employed as a waitress for much of her life. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandson, Scott, whom she shared a special bond with. She also like playing Bingo and enjoyed sewing and mending.
Willie accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She was baptized in 2011 and attended Faith Community Church of the Nazarene of Mountain Grove as long as her health permitted.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by five brothers: Frank Sympson, Guy Sympson, Gene Sympson, Glen Sympson, and Clyde Sympson; and by one sister: Irene Riley.
Willie is survived by her daughter: Paula Adams and husband, Eddy, of West Plains, Missouri; one grandson: Scott Carty of Mountain Grove; one brother: Junior Sympson of Janesville, Wisconsin; two sisters: Ella Fullington of Berryville, Arkansas and Connie Hendrickson of San Jose, California; and other relatives and friends who will dearly miss her.
