William Floyd Brown II, son of the late William Floyd Sr. and Willie (Williams) Brown, was born on July 24, 1938 in Dyersburg, Tennessee and passed away on April 2, 2009 in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, at 70 years of age.
He lived in Dyersburg until six years of age and moved to St. Louis, Missouri. At age eleven he moved to Mtn. Grove where he attended school. In 1955 he entered the United States Navy at seventeen years of age. While stationed in the military he met the love of his life, Armenia “Amie” Flores. They were united in marriage on August 20, 1957 in Kingsville, Texas. Six children were born to this union. They made their home for a short time in St. Louis and moved back to Mtn. Grove where they raised their family.
He served his community as a police officer in Mtn. Grove for seventeen years and retired as a Sergeant. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Mtn. Grove and Norwood for many years.
Floyd was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, taking country drives and walking through the woods. He loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar and singing.
He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He enjoyed visiting with his many friends and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, whom he loved very much. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Amie Brown on August 11, 2008; one brother: Daniel Brown; three sisters: Lola Rhoades, Billie Imler and Rosie Imler; and by a brother-in-law: Floyd O’Guin.
He is survived by his three sons: William Floyd Brown III of Los Angeles, California; Thomas Brown and his wife, Julie, of Mtn. Grove, and Jesse Brown of New York, New York; three daughters: Irene Foster of Arnold, Missouri, Laura Sherrell and her husband, Duane, and Sara Taylor and her husband, Joseph, all of Mtn. Grove; two sisters: Lois Johnson of Mtn. Grove, and Judy O’Guin of Norwood, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren: Amy Goldsmith, Jasmine Willis, Angela Foster, Josh Foster, Tommy Brown, Jessica Brown, Aleesia Brown, Sky Crawford, Tomi Crawford, Keylena Crawford, Jett Crawford, Bradley Loveless, Cathryn Beggs, Michelle Loveless, and Amanda Loveless; six great-grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
