William “Bill” Gary Wallis, son of the late Andrew “Andy” and Gladys (Lea) Wallis, was born on October 20, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri and departed this life on Thursday, April 29, 2010 in the Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri, following a long illness. He was 62 years, 6 months and 9 days of age.
Bill grew up and attended school in Steelville, Missouri and graduated from Steelville High School in 1965. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1971.
He was united in marriage to Susan Walker on June 29, 1992 in Clearwater, Florida. They made their home on MM Hwy. east of Mtn. Grove for the past five years. Bill was employed in the telephone industry for over forty years.
He enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, and especially turkey hunting.
Bill was a loving and kind husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Jerry Wallis and Kenny Joe Wallis; a sister-in-law: Peggy Wallis; and by a nephew: Nathan Hedrick.
He is survived by his wife: Susan Wallis of their home; three sons: Jason Wallis and his wife, Renee, of Marshfield, Missouri, Joshua Wallis of Memphis, Tennessee, and Scott Breeden and his wife, Tiffany of Licking, Missouri; two daughters: Dana Wallis and Jerome Miller of Obion, Tennessee, and Whitney Breeden of Mtn. Grove; two brothers: Jim Wallis and his wife, Fern, of Steelville, Missouri and Tom Wallis and his wife, Paulette, of Sullivan, Missouri; one sister: Janet Hedrick and her husband, Don, of Steelville, Missouri; a sister-in-law: Dianne Wallis of Malden, Missouri; six grandchildren: Austin Farmer, Dylan Farmer, Luke Wallis, Olivia Wallis, Emalee Breeden and Ava Breeden; and other relatives and friends.
Memorial Service:
Saturday, May 1st - 10:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel with full military honors at the funeral home.
