Wanda June Hopkins

June 4, 1926 — December 18, 2009

Wanda June Hopkins of Wichita, Kansas, daughter of Nevins Joe and Jessie Faye (Cody) Collins, was born on June 4, 1926 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and went to her Heavenly home on December 18, 2009 at 83 years of age.
She was united in marriage to Alva Wayne Hopkins on June 22, 1944 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
June worked many years at the Brown Shoe Company in Mtn. Grove. After her move to Wichita, she ran a state day care out of her home for seventeen years. She loved taking care of all those kids and providing then a fun place to stay every day. Many of the children shill kept in touch with her. She was proud of her country roots and shared many stories about her childhood in Arkansas.
June had only one hobby and that was taking care of her family. She lived her life for her family and the love they all had for her was bigger than life itself.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: A. Wayne Hopkins; two sisters: Nolene and Corrine; and by three brothers: Roy, Bob and Dean.
She is survived by her five children: Jeanne Calhoun and best friend, Pam, of Springfield, Missouri, Larry Hopkins and his wife, Pam, David Hopkins and his wife, Sherrie, Sandy Bolan and her husband, Owen, and Janet Hopkins, all of Wichita, Kansas; seven grandchildren: Mindy Lickly, Jason Hopkins, Raine Hopkins, Chasta Ysidro, Kash Bolan, Haylie Bolan, and Kylee Hopkins, all of Wichita, Kansas; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister: Betty Rutter and her husband, Floyd, of Cabool, Missouri; five brothers: Jack Collins and his wife, Carolyn, of Brea, California, Charles Collins and his wife, Vera, of Wichita, Kansas, Jim Collins and his wife, Sharyl, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, Larry Collins and his wife, Trevia, of Collinsville, Illinois, and Fred Collins and his wife, Deanna of East Carondelet, Illinois; her granddogs: Reba, Mac, Minniepearl, Andy, Sadie, Tiki, Otis, Daisy, and Rosepip.


Funeral Services:
Tuesday, December 22, 10:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Visitation:
Monday, December 21, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the chapel.
Burial:
Hillcrest Cemetery
Donations/Contributions:
KETCH (Kansas Elks Training Center for the Handicapped) c/o the funeral home.
