Vivian Eloise Turner

September 17, 1932 — June 23, 2015

Vivian Eloise (Ownes) Turner, daughter of the late Elmer and Ruby (Reaves) Owens, was born on September 17, 1932, near Norwood, Missouri. She took her last breath on earth and her first breath in Heaven on June 23, 2015, in her home north of Mountain Grove, surrounded by her loving family. She was 82 years, 9 months, and 6 days of age.
Vivian married Carl Wallace Turner on October 14, 1950. This union of nearly 65 years was blessed with six children. In June of 1955, they moved to a farm east of Hartville where they worked side by side milking cows, running a milk route, and raising their kids. Vivian devoted her life to loving and caring for her family and her home. She was a member of the Church of Christ, where she and Carl attended the Mountain Grove congregation.
Vivian was a loving wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, and friend. She was dearly loved by everyone who knew her and she always put others first. Vivian was known for her cooking and hospitality. Everyone loved going to their house and she made each and every person, whether a relative, a stranger, or a work hand, feel welcome. People were always blessed by her generosity, loving kindness, and open heart. No matter what time you stopped by her house she offered to prepare something for you to eat and when you left, she tried to send something home with you.
She loved quilting and embroidery work and made countless sets of tea towels, pillowcases, and quilts of all sizes. She has requested that her daughters finish certain ones that she had started. She also made wonderful pies, jellies, preserves, and homemade donuts. Lilacs were a favorite, but she also loved lilies and all kinds of flowers. When the grandchildren came to spend time with her, she would drop everything and devote her time to play whatever they wanted. She always had a jigsaw puzzle going, and she loved to play Dominoes and SKIP-BO.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Ruby Owens.
She leaves behind her husband, Carl Turner; six children: Evelyn Mayab, of Springfield, Larry Turner and wife, Carolyn, of Hartville, Wanda Davis and husband, Dave, of Mountain Grove, Janet Mace and husband, Larry, of Mountain Grove, Wallace Turner and wife, Linda, of Carthage, and David Turner and wife, Stephanie, of Monett; sixteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one sister: Louise Thornhill and husband, Jim, of Mountain Grove; and numerous other dear family members and friends, including her beloved church family.
Her children rise up and bless her; her husband also, and he praises her. Proverbs 31:28
