Virginia Marjorie (Shain) Ramaeker

May 2, 1926 — September 18, 2011

Virginia Marjorie Ramaeker, daughter of late James Otis and Belle (Steiner) Shain, was born on May 2, 1926 in Jefferson, Iowa, and departed this life on September 18, 2011 in the Hometown Senior Living Facility in Hudson, Wisconsin. She was 85 years, 4 months, and 16 days of age.
Virginia grew up and attended school in Jefferson, Iowa and was united in marriage to David William Ramaeker on January 14, 1948. Ten children were born to this union. They made their home and raised their family in Thor, Iowa where they were crop farmers for many years. They moved to Graff, Missouri, north of Mtn. Grove in 1972.
Dave and Virginia owned and operated a beef and dairy farm for a few years until Dave's health started failing. He passed away on March 14, 1975.
Virginia was a true homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing oil and acrylic painting. She also liked to travel and visit her children and grandchildren in different states.
Virginia was a long time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mtn. Grove where she enjoyed helping. She also served as a volunteer at the Wright County Crisis Center in Mtn. Grove.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Virginia is survived by her four sons: James Ramaeker and his wife, Carolyn, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, Steve Ramaeker and his wife, Stacey, of Star Prairie, Wisconsin, Don Ramaeker of Gillett, Wyoming, and Larry Ramaeker and his wife, Diana, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; her six daughters: Linda Knutson and her husband, David, of St. Paul, Minnesota, Susan Tigwell and her husband, Grant, of Naples, Florida, Julie Smith and her husband, Jim, of San Antonio, Texas, Nancy Sullivan and her husband, Jim, of Edwardsville, Illinois, Gloria McGraw of Atlanta, Georgia, and Ann Weigel and her husband, Gregg, of Roberts, Wisconsin; twenty-three grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
