Virgil 'Bubby' Jess Woods

Virgil Jess “Bubby” Woods, son of Otis and Sue (Skaggs) Woods, was born on December 1, 1972 in Houston, Missouri and departed this life on December 12, 2011 in the Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri, following a tragic accident.
Bubby grew up in and around Mtn. Grove and attended Mtn. Grove Schools. He worked in construction and disaster relief for Kelly Disaster Relief Services for several years and was currently employed by Anthony Kelly of Dynamite Fireworks in Seymour, Missouri.
He worked as a volunteer firefighter for Mtn. Grove and would put his life on the line for anyone in need.
Virgil was united in marriage to Tasha Flanagan on December 13, 2008 in Cabool, Missouri.
Bubby’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his two granddaughters and also knowing that one was due in May of next year. He greatly enjoyed being outdoors, especially when fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his father: Otis Woods; his paternal grandparents: Russell and Leattis Woods; his maternal grandparents: Virgil and Martha Skaggs; and by a niece: Samantha Behm.
Bubby is survived by his loving wife: Tasha Woods of their home in Mtn. Grove; one son: Christopher Birt of Mtn. Grove; three daughters: Melanie Woods, NaTasha Woods and Autumn Woods, all of Mtn. Grove; two granddaughters: Jade Birt and Isabella Woods; his mother and stepfather: Sue and James Anderson of Mtn. Grove; three sisters: Cindy Behm and her husband, Ernie, of Marian, Arkansas, Lana Nelson and her husband, Willie, of Mtn. Grove, and Susanne Woods of Mtn. Grove; extended siblings: Rose Allen of the State of Arkansas, Jessie Allen of Norwood, Missouri, Libby Woods and Rhonda Ice, both of Mtn. Grove; a very dear friend, whom he considered his brother: Donald Emery of Mtn. Grove; four very special cousins: Michael Hutsell, Destiney Hutsell, Amber Kelly, and Jeffery Ice, all of Mtn. Grove; a niece whom he thought of as a sister: Rebecca Soares of Guam; a very special friend, whom he thought of as his second mom: Ricki Ross of Flippin, Arkansas; several aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends who loved Bubby and will miss him very much.


Funeral Service: Friday,

December 16, 2011 at 2:00 PM in
the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.

Visitation: Thursday, December 15th from 6:00 PM –

8:00 PM in the funeral home.

Burial: Hillcrest Cemetery
