Violet (Plunk) Melton, was born on March 5, 1927 to the late Arthur Sherman and Vivian (Barr) Plunk and went to Heaven on July 14, 2014 at the Autumn Oaks Caring Center of Mountain Grove, Missouri following a long illness. She was 87 years, 4 months, and 9 days of age.
Violet grew up on Little Creek Road, near Mountain Grove and graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1944. She was saved at an early age at Union Chapel Church. Violet worked in the Pentagon during World War II. She met W.A. Bill Melton in January of 1948. They were united in marriage on May 29, 1948. Six children were born to this union. They lived on Little Creek Road until October of 1953 and moved to a farm on what is now AD Highway in Douglas County, Missouri. There they farmed together until April 26, 1993, when Bill passed away.
Violet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She loved her family dearly. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Besides her parents and husband, Violet was preceded in death by one son: Dallas Melton; one grandson; two sisters: Virginia Queen and Vonna Booth; and one brother: Arthur Plunk.
She is survived by four sons: David Melton and wife, Becky, Dale Melton and wife, Dorilea, Danny Melton and wife, Angel, and Darrell Melton and wife, Jackie; one daughter: LaDora Pounds and husband, David; two sisters: Vivian Wason and Veneitta Ragain and husband, Milburn; two sisters-in-law: Phyllis Phillips and Zula Plunk; one brother-in-law: Gene Melton and wife, Carolyn; eleven grandchildren: Billy Lee Melton, Brandi Melton, David Bryan Melton, Doug Melton, Crystal Melton, Sherman Melton, Allen Melton, Nathan Melton, Shilah Melvin, Danielle Melton, and Jerod Pounds; twenty great-grandchildren: Dakota, Kaylee, Breanne, Michael, Marli, Haydn, Hunter, Madison, Steele, Gracelynn, Jillian, Gus, Amanda, Chandler, Cameron, Isam, Bodee, Jacob, Jailynn, and Mikailynn; and one great-great-grandchild: Declen.

Funeral Service: Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel
Burial: Hillcrest Cemetery
