Viola May (Carman) Thomas, the daughter of the late Everet and Eula (Toothaker) Carman, was born March 29, 1929, in Haver, Washington, and passed away February 14, 2023, at her daughter’s residence in Ozark, Missouri. She was 93 years, 10 months, and 16 days of age.
In 1946, Viola graduated from high school in Medford, Oregon. After graduating high school, she went to work at JC Penney. It was here she met Billy Dale Thomas, a really cute gentleman, who came in to apply for a job. Vi made sure he got the job, and the rest is history. Vi and Bill were married September 21, 1950, and seven children were born to this union.
Vi had a quick wit and was naturally cheerful. She was a master at playing Scrabble, which was one of her favorite ways to spend time, but her greatest joy was spending time with family. Vi made all holidays special, and she loved preparing all the favorite foods and desserts for her family.
She was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, MSU Lady Bears, and when a family member was playing, she was a fan of the Seymour Tigers.
Besides her parents, Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Billy, her son, Richy, one brother, Leonard Carman, and one sister, Helen Johnson.
She is survived by six children, Greg Thomas and wife, Julie, Carmen Thomas, Mark Thomas and wife, Stacey, Tammy Roberts and husband, Steve, Fonda James and husband, Joe, and Jenny Brotherton and husband, Bryan, one sister, Betty LaFree, twelve grandchildren, Caitlin, Emily, Becca, Ben, Zachary, Whitney, Yasmine, Lucas, Libby, Crystal, Kyle, and Brooke, and twelve great grandchildren, Avery, Owen, Cara, Jude, Hunter, Rory, Claire, Madison, Brady, Caden, Hadley, and Hayden. Vi was a very proud grandmother and great grandmother and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
