Verlin Earl Wright, son of the late James B. Sr. and Elva Helen (Franklin) Wright, was born on August 22, 1941 in Mountain Grove, Missouri, and departed this life on January 27, 2016 at his home in Mountain Grove at 74 years of age.
Verlin grew up in Mountain Grove and graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1959. He joined the army in February 1964 and served until December 1965. During that time, he served in Thailand as well as other various places in an engineering company.
Verlin spent many years in the carpentry business building schools, churches, offices, apartments, and various styles of barns. He enjoyed his work and was a very skilled carpenter.
Verlin liked spending time gardening and raising tomatoes. He also greatly enjoyed fishing and hunting. One year he had the honor of killing the biggest deer in Wright County.
Besides his parents, Verlin was preceded in death by two brothers: Loren and Eldon Wright; and by one sister: Mardell Bussard.
He is survived by two brothers: Harold Wright and his wife, Helen, of Springfield, Missouri, and James Wright and his wife, Evelyn, of Mountain Grove, Missouri; two sisters: Mildred Rippee and her husband, Jay, of Springfield, Missouri, and Marilyn Cates, and her husband, Bob, of Bethany, Oklahoma, nieces and nephews, and other family and friends who will dearly miss him.
Visitation: Saturday, January 30, 2016 from 1:00-2:00 PM at Friendship Baptist Church, north of Mtn. Grove.
Funeral Service: Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Friendship Baptist Church.
Burial: Friendship Cemetery
