Verba Lorene (Cain) Brown, daughter of the late Raymond and Ruby (Hicks) Cain, was born May 11, 1935, in Vanzant, Missouri, and passed away October 22, 2019, at Willow Care Nursing Home in Willow Springs, Missouri. She was 84 years, 5 months, and 11 days of age.
She was raised in Vanzant and attended grade school at Willow Springs #2 and later attended school at Dora, Missouri. On January 14, 1952, she married Lyle Tooley and four children were born to this union, Alvin, Rick, Danny, and Lila. They moved and lived in El Dorado, Kansas, for a while, and later moved back to Vanzant. Lyle passed away July 31, 1959. Verba married Duane Brown on June 8, 1971, and a daughter, Valerie, was born to this union.
She was a homemaker and also did babysitting and later worked as a caregiver. Verba was saved and baptized at a young age. As long as her health permitted, she attended church anytime the doors were open.
Verba was a music lover and listened to all kinds of music. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and her husband, Lyle, she was preceded in death by her son, Danny Tooley.
Verba is survived by two sons, Alvin Tooley and his wife, Deloris, of Henderson, Arkansas, and Rick Tooley and his wife, Marsha, of Vanzant, Missouri, two daughters, Lila Iott and her husband, Danny, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Valerie Sympson and her husband, Johnny, of Licking, Missouri, 14 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and other family and friends who will miss her very much.
