Vera June Sellars moved to Heaven on September 22, 2014 to be with her loving Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at 94 years of age. She was born on July 9, 1920 in Mountain Grove, Missouri to Charlie and Stella (Odel) Turner.
Vera grew up in the Mountain Grove area where she met and married Frank Sellars on April 9, 1936. Together they traveled to Idaho, Washington, and Oregon working in the fruit orchards, but their hearts kept calling them back to the Grove! Their hearts finally won out and they settled down on their dairy farm in Douglas County where they raised five children.
Vera was an avid homemaker who loved gardening, raising flowers, quilting, and embroidering. After the children were grown she worked at various jobs including the Panther Freeze for Van and Pat Elliot and the High School Cafeteria. Vera and Frank lived in Mountain Grove for several years, but after his passing on, she retired to country living where she spent her free time gardening and picking poke greens with her grandson Daniel.
Vera was saved and baptized while attending Glendale Baptist Church in July of 1992. She was a member of Victory Tabernacle Ministries, attending services as long as her health permitted her to.
Besides her parents, Vera was preceded in death by her husband: Frank Sellars; three brothers: Ervin Turner, Howard Turner, and J.R. Turner all of Idaho; two sisters: Janet Hightower of Arkansas, and Jewel Smart of Idaho; two sons-in-law: Harold Edwards of Lebanon, Missouri, and John Creed of Mountain Grove; two granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.
She is survived by two sisters; Bonnie Engels of Hermiston, Oregon, and Donna Seville of Adrian, Oregon; three brothers: Morse Turner of Homedale, Idaho, Don Turner of Caldwell, Idaho, and Dwayne Turner of Rodeo, California; five children: Doris Jean Edwards of Lebanon, Missouri, Shirley Creed of Mountain Grove, Evelyn Browning and her husband, Cleon, of Ozark, Missouri, Carolyn Newberry and her husband, Ray, of Mountain Grove, and Nolan Sellars and his wife, Mary, of Clinton, Missouri; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and a host of family members and loved ones too numerous to mention. We love you Vera and look forward to spending eternity with you in heaven some day!
