Vera A. Murphy

Vera Allyne Murphy, daughter of the late Benjamin and Anna Myrtle (Thompson) Dye, was born on October 12, 1916 in Silver City, New Mexico, and passed away on January 16, 2007 in National Health Care Nursing Home in West Plains, Missouri, following a long illness, at 90 years of age.
Vera grew up and attended school in Arizona and was united in marriage to James B. Murphy on July 1, 1957 in Hernando, Mississippi. They made their home in Illinois for many years before moving to Missouri where they lived in the Peace Valley Community. Vera was a long time member of the Baptist Church in Peoria, Illinois.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She enjoyed quilting, painting, fishing, and visiting with her friends and neighbors.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Jim Murphy in 2005; one son: Arnold James; one grandson: Eddie; and by three brothers.
She is survived by one daughter: Doris Moody and her husband, Vernon of Springfield, Missouri; one sister: Jewel Sanders of Branson, Missouri; three grandchildren: Jeanie, Jo, and Vera; three great-grandchildren: Missy, Stephanie, and Michael; one great-great-grandchild: Conner; special friends: Butch and Shirley Fonner of Peace Valley, Missouri; and other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
Graveside services for Vera Murphy were held Friday, January 19, 1:00 PM in the Friendship Cemetery with Bro. Marion Cornett officiating. Burial was in the Friendship cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, MO.
