Velma Ann Calton

Velma Ann Calton, daughter of the late Guy and Eugenia (Crewse) Rook, was born on December 28, 1916 in Graff, Missouri, and departed this life on October 21, 2007 at her residence in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, following a long illness. She was 90 years, 9 months, and 23 days of age.
Velma was raised in the Graff and Mtn. Grove Communities and graduated from Mtn. Grove High school. She was united in marriage to Ray Calton on July 1, 1941 in Branson, Missouri. Two children were born to this union. They made their home in the Mtn. Grove area for over fifty years.
Velma worked at the Fruit Experiment Station in Mtn. Grove for a few years. She owned and operated a book binding business on the square in Mtn. Grove for several years and she was also employed at Brown Shoe Company for thirty-three years.
Velma was a long-time member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mtn. Grove. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, friend and neighbor. She loved spending time with her family and visiting with her many friends. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and working in her church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Ray Calton on April 9, 1962; two brothers: James Rook and Benjamin Rook; and by a grand-daughter-in-law.
She is survived by her two daughters: Barbara Dickison and her husband, Jerry, of Murtaugh, Idaho, and Brenda Barton of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; four grandchildren: Jay Dickison, Jo Dickison, Katie Calton, and LaNell Renee Barton; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her. www.craighurttfuneralhome.com

10 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2007 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Mtn. Grove, MO.
Visitation:
6 p.m . to 8 p.m. Friday, October 26, 2007, Rosary service 7:00 pm in the funeral home.
Burial:
Hillcrest Cemetery, Mtn. Grove, MO
