Twyla Jean Lemons, daughter of Fay Lemons and Pansy (Edwards) Coble, was born January 27, 1944 in Douglas County, Missouri
While attending Glendale School, at the age of 6, she won a shiny new pencil box, filled with multicolored pencils. This was the beginning of a lifelong love of writing. Ant-T was her pen name. She was the author of many poems, children’s books, song, and cartoon comics. Many of her poems have been published in various books, receiving various awards.
Twyla was saved at a young age and baptized in Fox Creek. She spent her life spreading the Gospel. Even in her last days at the Kabul Nursing Home, she would witness and pray for both residents and caregivers.
Lorene and Bonnie were two special friends in the Nursing Home. Twyla always made time to encourage them and they her. One of her favorite caregivers was Sarah. No matter how busy Sarah was she would make time for Twyla, singing her sons, making her comfortable and just being a friend.
Before Twyla entered the Nursing Home, Kathy Revait helped take care of her. She was much more that a caregiver to Twyla. Kathy would take her out for ice cream, her favorite weakness; she encouraged her, and loved her. Twyla likewise loved her.
Hospice Compassus was there for Twyla, right to the very end. Loving her, caring for her and Chaplain Roger would be there no matter day or night to comfort and pray for her.
In 1960, she married Bernard Crewse and from that union came, Keith, Rodney, Ronda, Richard, and Vickie. To her kids and family, she was a champion baker; famous for her breads, pies, and cinnamon rolls. She always made sure her family had food for the winter, working hard in her garden. She also picked berries, apples, peaches, and plums, and about anything else that could be canned; always having more than enough so to be able to help neighbors in need.
Twyla was known as a giving person. Once she literally gave the coat off her back to a stranger. She bought numerous pairs of socks and shoes for children in need, and always seemed to come up with extra food for those that had none. The last thing she gave away was a pair of her new socks and her Christmas cookies, which her daughter had made for her.
She was preceded in death by her father, her son, Keith, and grandson, Derick Lee Sellars.
She is survived by her mother, Pansy; brother, Leon (wife, Carol); aunt Mae; niece: Debbie Horton; children: Rodney Crewse (wife, Ronda), Ronda Sellars (husband, Ben), Richard Crewse (Wife, Serena), and Vickie Riden (husband, Dale); twelve grandchildren: Jeff, Amber, Jake, Bryan, Alexis, Josh, Ashley, Brenton, Zach, Johannah, Grace, and Daniel; nine great-grandchildren: Destiny, Sophia, Acelyn, and one Sellars due in August; and many relatives and friends.
