Thomas 'Tom' Roy Spence

Thomas “Tom” Roy Spence, son of the late Ralph and Alice (Bates) Spence, was born on February 11, 1960 in Mtn. View, Missouri and departed this life suddenly on July 6, 2010 at his residence in Mtn. Grove, Missouri. He was 50 years, 4 months and 24 days of age.

Tom grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from Ritenour High School in 1978. He entered the United States Army on November 14, 1978, where he became a military policeman and was honorably discharged from the United States Army Reserves on September 26, 1984. He later attended four years of college.

He was united in marriage to Lila Fleetwood on October 15, 2005 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

Tom was employed at the alternative school in Mtn. Grove for several years. He most recently worked at Autumn Oaks Caring Center as a Medical Technician.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed nature and hunting. He also liked to do woodworking and spending time with his cat.

He was a loving and caring husband, nephew, step-father, friend and neighbor. He enjoyed visiting with his family and friends. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife: Lila Spence of their home; two step-sons: Christopher C. Dangler and Scott A. Dangler, both of Mtn. Grove; two aunts: Bert Rosenburg of Birch Tree, Missouri and Anita Weber of Dallas, Texas; and other relatives and friends.


Graveside Service:

Friday, July 9th, 2:00 PM in the Pleasant Home Cemetery, Douglas County.

Visitation:

Thursday, July 8th, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.

Burial:

Pleasant Home Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
