Thelma Jo Cramer

October 24, 1925 — August 24, 2009

Thelma Jo Cramer passed away on Monday, August 24, 2009 at the age of 83 years and 10 months after a lengthy illness. Thelma was born October 24, 1925 to Rosco and Josie (Ramsey) Barnes in Mountain View, Arkansas.
At an early age, Thelma’s parents moved the family (including baby brother Charles) to Mountain Grove, where she spent most of the remainder of her life. The only exception was a couple of years in the 1940s that she and her husband lived in California.
She was united in marriage over 50 years to Charles William “Bill” Cramer, who preceded her in death on May 29, 1997.
Thelma and Bill were never blessed with children of their own, so they compromised by doting on their niece, Jana, as though she were their daughter.
Thelma touched hearts as the loving caregiver she was to her parents as their health declined, and kindness she showed to others throughout her life.
She served as full-time librarian in the Mountain Grove branch of Wright County Library for 37 years, retiring from the job she began as a high school student working part-time. Thelma was also a long-standing member of the First Baptist Church in Mountain Grove.
She is survived by her brother Charles Barnes, niece Jana Fletcher (husband Alan) of Ojai, California, great-nieces Javai, Brittany, and Colby and several cousins and a multitude of close friends.
Special thanks to cousin Shirley Short and her family for the loving support during Thelma’s illness.
