Terry Short, son of the late Amos W. and Ruth B (Long) Short, was born February 19, 1951, in Peoria, Illinois, and passed away March 28, 2020, at Mercy hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was 69 years, 1 month, and 9 days of age.
Terry grew up in Mountain Grove and graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1969. He lived in Lebanon for a short time after graduation and worked at the boat factory. Then he began his career as a truck driver, which he pursued for almost 40 years.
Terry married Diana Doty on June 24, 1972. Three children were born to this union: Sarah, Timothy, and Mark.
In his spare time, Terry enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a friendly and caring person who never met a stranger. Terry greatly loved his family. They were his pride and joy. Time spent together with his family was his greatest treasure.
Besides his parents, Terry was preceded in death by one brother, Bob Short, his father-in-law, Walter Doty, two brothers-in-law, Jerry Claxton and Kyle Smith, one sister-in-law, Wilma Short, and one niece, Misty Goforth.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Diana Short, one daughter, Sarah Stillwell and her husband, Ronald, two sons, Timothy Short and his wife, Amanda, and Mark Short and his wife, Fay, eight grandchildren, Christian, Emmalyn, Isaiah, Brannon, Grayson, Christopher and his wife, Ivy, Chloe, and one great-grandson, Baylon, his two brothers, Bill Short and Jim Percival, two sisters, Charlene Claxton and Patty Long and her husband, John, two uncles, Bruce Long and Kenneth Adamson, his mother-in-law, Delores Doty, one brother-in-law, Gary Doty and his wife, Cozette, three sisters-in-law, Janet Peterson, Brenda Smith, and Shirley Short, extended family, Keeland and Lacy Nix and their children, Payton and Rylan, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and other relatives and friends.
