Tana Sue (Richter) Lovan, daughter of the late Edwin and Thelma (Stanton) Richter, was born August 17, 1951, in Springfield, Missouri, and departed this life August 25, 2022, in Springfield, Missouri, following a short illness. She was 71 years and 8 days of age.
Tana grew up in the Ash Grove community and attended elementary school in Bois D’Arc. She attended high school in Ash Grove and graduated with the class of ’69. She then went to what was then known as Missouri State University and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in nutrition. While in college she was united in marriage to Randy Lovan on September 4, 1971.
Tana began working in West Plains, Missouri, for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children known as “WIC.” She eventually became the program Director for Springfield and Green County, Missouri. She had a great passion for this program and helping those needing assistance. She dedicated over 30 years of her life there before retiring, touching countless lives in the span of three decades of service.
After retiring, Tana enjoyed traveling and seeing all the beauty nature had to offer. She took photos and kept memories of the travels and enjoyed sharing her photos in yearly calendars she liked creating for her family and friends. She was a kind and loving soul who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Tana is survived by her husband of nearly 51 years, Randy Lovan of Springfield, Missouri, one brother, Ted Richter and wife, Arnie, of Holiday Island, Arkansas, two nephews, Kurt and Flint Richter, great-nephew, Logan Richter, great-nieces, Heidi and Luna Richter, one aunt, Jo Putney and family, and many other relatives and friends.
