Sybil Lee (Everett) Heckendorn, daughter of James William Everett and Sara Amy Mae (Sherman) Everett, was born April 11, 1933, in Ava, Missouri, and departed this life December 29, 2024, in her home in Ava, Missouri, at the age of ninety-one years, eight months, and eighteen days of age.
On October 24, 1952, she was united in marriage to Cyrus “Puss” Heckendorn, and to this union a son and daughter were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, Virgil, Leslie, and James; and two sisters, Claudine Rushing and Billie Mae McGill.
Sybil is survived by her son, Richard Heckendorn and his wife, Jill, of Ava, Missouri, and their children: grandson, Colby Heckendorn and his wife, Erin, and children, Audrey and Finn, of St. Louis Missouri; and granddaughter, Kalie McHaffie and her husband, Cody, and children, Emma and Caden, of Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
Her daughter, Vicky Denney and her husband, Bruce, of Seymour, Missouri, and their two sons: grandson, Ryan Denney of Rogersville, Missouri, and children, Allison, Tristan, and Lillyanne; and grandson, Shawn Denney and daughter, Gentry, of Seymour, Missouri.
One brother, John Everett and his wife, Teresa, of Ava, Missouri; one sister, Eva Jo Baker of Albuquerque, New Mexico; several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
Sybil lived most of her adult life in the Mansfield, Seymour, and Ava areas. She worked several jobs in Springfield, Missouri, before retiring from H.D. Lee in Seymour. She moved to Ava in 1993, where she and her husband, Puss, made their final home.
She centered her life around family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed visiting with her many friends telling jokes, playing cards, dominos, and golf.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Seymour Masonic Lodge or Seymour Senior Center.
