Sybil Francis Evaline Farr, daughter of the late George Riley and Mattie (Walls) Day, was born on October 22, 1918 in Wright County, Missouri and departed this life on Friday, January 22, 2010 in the Hartville Care Center in Hartville, Missouri, following an extended illness. She was 91 years and 3 months of age.
Sybil grew up near Hartville and attended school in the Coon Creek Community. She was united in marriage to Claude Vincent Farr in Wright County on July 4, 1940. Seven children were born to this union. They raised their family in Wright County where they lived most all their lives. Claude passed away on August 22, 1977.
Sybil was saved and baptized at an early age and attended church faithfully as long as her health permitted. At the time of her passing, she was a member of the Hartville Freewill Baptist Church. Sybil was a good seamstress and enjoyed embroidery work. She was also an excellent cook. She enjoyed music festivals and also loved to travel with her family after retiring form H D Lee. Sybil was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and neighbor. She loved her family very much and will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her youngest daughter: Teresa Elizabeth Hardin on March 26, 1981; four infant grandsons; an infant great-grandchild; a grandson, Richard Farr; four brothers: Jess, Junior, John, and Clyde Day; and by three sisters: Velma Renfro, Ada Curtis, and Ivy Cameron.
She is survived by her three sons: Clayton Farr of Hartville, MO, Austin Farr and his wife, Gwen, of Wilmington, NC, and Winston Farr and his wife, Debbie, of Hartville, Missouri; three daughters: Rebecca Street and her husband, Verdin, of Fordland, Missouri, June Jones and her husband, Gayland, of Norwood, Missouri, and Lana Hilt and her husband, Ron, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; one brother: Edgar Day and his wife, Peggy, of Lebanon, OR; three sisters-in-law: Faye Day and Myrtle Day of Hartville, MO, and Louise Day of Sikeston, MO; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral Services: Monday, January 25, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the First Freewill Baptist Church of Hartville.
Visitation: Monday, January 25, 2010 from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM, prior to the service, in the First Freewill Baptist Church of Hartville.
Burial: Broyles Cemetery
Friends may view and sign the register book Monday morning at the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home from 8:00 - 11:00 AM.
