Susan Jean Wooton was born to Norman G. Perry and Mary C. Siebert, Dec 1922 in Dormont, PA. She passed away on July 22, 2014 at her home south of Mountain Grove at 91 years of age.
Susan began playing the piano at age 5. Her distinguished career started at the age of 13, when she was first requested to teach piano. She was again requested to teach, as an undergraduate at the University of Washington and did so until she graduated with a B.A. in Music in 1947.
She received a Master of Music in piano in 1952 from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA, while still a student, was again requested to teach. Susan accepted the invitation to teach at Arlington Academy of Music, Tucson Center for the Arts and PIMA Community College during her career. She also accepted a position to teach at the Sidwell Friends School in Washington D.C., primarily teaching children of domestic and foreign diplomats.
In addition to the formal education, she has studied under a number of well know musicians; including Emperor Iturbi (Beverly Hills), Silvio Rosemary (Seattle), and Grace Castanets (New York), names well known in their field, and William X. Forester (former conductor of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra), accompanied soloist Eva Gerhard Kemp (Tucson), piano accompanist for the Tucson Boys Choir.
Susan made public solo performances in a number of states and Canada, along with guest appearances on several radio stations, under the professional name Jeanne Perron. She was a faculty member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers, but not limited to the piano. Sue also was an accomplished flutist and has been a member of the Tucson, Seattle, and Spokane Symphony's, among others.
Her other interests included: photography, miniature making, cooking and hiking.
After the death of her mother, Sue lived in Bellingham, WA; Rio Rancho, NM and Mountain Grove, MO. She is survived by her cousin: Sheila Seibert; and her "adopted" son and daughter, Mike and Renee Wise.
Sue Wooton used the gifts God gave her to return praise to Him.
