Steve Cantrell

May 27, 1956 — March 18, 2023

Stephen T. Cantrell, son of the late Donald and Joyce (Smith) Cantrell, was born May 27, 1956, in Los Angeles, California, and passed away March 18, 2023, at his home in Norwood, Missouri. He was 66 years, 9 months, and 22 days of age.

Steve grew up in California, later moved to Nebraska, and finally settled in the Mansfield, Missouri, area in 1969. Steve was united in marriage to Lucy Keeling on September 12, 1974, and two children were born to this union: Stephen and Tracy. They enjoyed 40 years of marriage before Lucy passed away on December 14, 2014. In the latter part of his life, for the last six and a half years, he has been with his significant other, Kathy Crain.

Steve had a 30-year career working at the Mansfield Cheese Plant. He loved going fishing, hunting, and farming. He also enjoyed woodworking, watching wrestling, and back-roading with Kathy, especially in the snow.  Most of all, Steve loved spending time with his family, no matter what they were doing together. He only had one granddaughter, Kadence “Tator”, and she was absolutely the light of his life. Steve was saved at Oak Grove Church at Norwood, Missouri, while R.E. Helsley was pastor.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Cantrell, one sister, Sandra Kay, two brothers-in-law, Mike Hicks and Ernie Keeling, and one sister-in-law, Ellen Buttram.

He is survived by one son, Stephen Cantrell and his wife, Shantell, of Mansfield, Missouri, one daughter, Tracy Hicks and her husband, Gary, of Macomb, Missouri, one granddaughter, Kadence Hicks of Macomb, Missouri, two brothers, Donnie Cantrell and his wife, Kathryn, of Mansfield, Missouri, and Darrell Cantrell and his wife, Michelle, of Grovespring, Missouri, four sisters, Pam Anderson and her husband, Delbert, of Mansfield, Missouri, Carol Cantrell and her husband, Ronnie Henry, of Mansfield, Missouri, Brenda Hicks of Longlane, Missouri, and Barb Chasteen and her husband, Ron, of Hartville, Missouri, and many nephews, nieces, and friends who will miss him.
