Stephen Hamilton Swenson, Sr., son of the late Homer L. and Hazel (Hamilton) Swenson, was born October 5, 1932 in Kansas City, Missouri, and departed this life February 8, 2017 at his home in Mountain Grove, Missouri. He was 84 years, 4 months, and 3 days of age.
Stephen was raised in Independence, Missouri. He graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1950 and joined the Air Force on January 31, 1952. He served his country as an Airman First Class for four years.
Stephen moved to Canton, Ohio, and married Jean Zeck. Three children were born to this union. He later married Maxine Darter and helped raise her two children.
Stephen owned a route sales and dry cleaning business in Mountain Grove until he retired. He enjoyed playing golf and solitaire and he enjoyed hunting when he was able. Stephen was also a member of the American Legion in Mountain Grove.
Besides his parents, Stephen was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Swenson.
He is survived by three sons, Kristopher Swenson and his wife, Gayle, of Damascus, Maryland, Stephen Swenson, Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina, Bobby Boyd and his wife, Brooke, of Nixa, Missouri, two daughters, Kathy Jo Lallie of Alliance, Ohio, and Dawn Davis and her husband, Cory, of Ozark, Missouri, one sister, Carol Choulet and her husband, Richard, of Glendale, Arizona, fourteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and other family and friends.
Visitation: Monday, February 13, 2017 from 9:00 - 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
Funeral Service: Monday, February 13, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
Burial: Hillcrest Cemetery, Mtn. Grove.
