Shirley Faye Crego, daughter of the late John and Hilda (Fickert) Holland, was born on May 21, 1939 in Corning, Arkansas, and passed away on November 21, 2009 in The Maples Health and Rehabilitation Center in Springfield, Missouri following a short illness. She was 70 years and 6 months of age.
Shirley grew up in Corning, Arkansas and moved to St. Louis in the mid 1950’s. She moved to Mtn. Grove, Missouri in 1970, where she made her home until February of this year. She then moved to Springfield, Missouri to live with her twin sister, Anne Mae Alexander and her niece, Dawn Harris.
Shirley was a very crafty person who enjoyed sewing, flower arranging, and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. She loved animals of all kinds and enjoyed raising peacocks.
She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Sandra and Travis Roy; two grandchildren: Amber Roy and Travis James Roy; two great-grandchildren: Brandon Davis and Harley Rose Davis, all of Oklahoma; her twin sister: Anne Alexander of Springfield, Missouri; her niece: Dawn Harris of Springfield, Missouri; and a host of other relatives and friends.
“Now she can fly. God has called her home to be one of his angels in Heaven, just as she was an angel with all of us.”
