Sherrie Louise Gage, daughter of the late Ben and Florence (Simmons) Carmen, was born on June 4, 1942 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, and departed this life on Monday, February 20, 2012 in the Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri. She was 69 years, 8 months and 16 days of age.
Sherrie grew up and attended school north of Mtn. Grove, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Claude Gage on May 17, 1963. They made their home near Lebanon, Missouri for over thirty years. They had lived in Mtn. Grove for the past fifteen years.
Sherrie was a true homemaker, who enjoyed doing things around the house. She liked tending to the sick and injured animals for the Conservation Department. They would let her care for the animals and nurse them back to health before releasing them back into the wild.
Sherrie also enjoyed spending time with her cat, “Sassy”, and doing all kinds of crafts, making purses and working with leather.
She was a loving and caring wife, sister, aunt, neighbor and friend. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Ben Carmen and Paul Carmen; and by two sisters: Ella Mae Miller and Isabelle Tate.
She is survived by her loving husband: Claude Gage of their home; several nieces; nephews; and other relatives, neighbors and friends.
