Sherrell Ellis Debusk

January 22, 1924 — February 2, 2011

Sherrell Ellis DeBusk, son of the late Irvin Hoyt and Ethel (Kennedy) DeBusk, was born on January 22, 1924 in Pearson, Arkansas and departed this life on February 2, 2011 at his home south of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, at 87 years of age.
Sherrell grew up in Arkansas and attended elementary school at Mountainburg and graduated from Guy High School. Following high school, he entered the United States Navy and served his country from 1943 to 1946 during World War II. Upon his return to Arkansas, he went on to graduate from Arkansas Technical College. He earned a Bachelors and Masters Degree from the University of Arkansas, and an Education Specialist Degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia. He taught Vocational Agriculture for three years in Arkansas and thirteen years in Missouri. He worked as a School Administrator in Mtn. Grove for fifteen years and two years in Bunker. Sherrell retired from the public school systems on August 1, 1983.
He met Marjorie Glanville at the Arkansas University and they were united in marriage on September 23, 1948 in Urbana, Missouri. One daughter was born to this union.
Sherrell was saved at a young age while attending church in Mountainburg, Arkansas. He was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Manila, Arkansas. Upon moving to Missouri in 1953, he became a member of the First Baptist Church in Mtn. Grove and has remained faithful in his service to the Lord throughout the years.
Sherrell was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 3770 and the Kiwanis Club of Mtn. Grove where he served as President multiple terms and also as the District 13 Missouri/Arkansas Lieutenant Governor. He is well remembered for flipping pancakes at the annual Kiwanis Pancake Day. He served his community and church in many ways for several years and will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him. He loved being outdoors, especially when traveling with the Roubideau Ramblers Club where he served as President for many years with Marjorie as Secretary. Sherrell also enjoyed fishing with his wife, Marjorie, and his buddies and friends in area lakes and rivers.


Funeral Service: Saturday, February 5, at 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Church, Mtn. Grove.
Visitation: Friday, February 4, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Burial: Lonestar Cemetery
Memorial Contributions: First Baptist Church of Mtn. Grove c/o the funeral home.
