Sharon Rae Stinson, daughter of the late George Eckhardt and Prudence (Peck) Brown, was born May 19, 1947, in Pierre, South Dakota. She passed away January 19, 2025, in Cabool, Missouri, at the age of 77.
To those that knew her best, Sharon could only be described as spirited; with a temper that matched her fiery red hair, no one could accuse her of biting her tongue or holding back her real thoughts. Her family was usually first to receive these remarks, but they were also the last to take the sting to heart. Though she may not have been an overly sentimental person, she loved her family deeply, showing it every way she knew how. Her hugs were as fierce as her words; she always held on tight and was never the first to let go.
Her family will fondly remember her hogging the family gaming system and reading Stephen King right before bed. Sharon appreciated the simple things in life: a morning routine of coffee and solitaire and evening reruns of NCIS. She lived each moment in the present, but her storytelling was always fantastical. She could retell the same story a million times, and her listeners would feel like they were hearing a new tale every time.
Besides her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by four siblings, Elaine Renner, Doreen Martin, Bill Eckhardt, and Jeffrey Brown; and one beloved grandson, Casey Morris.
Sharon is survived by her four children, Jerald Stinson, Darla Mitchell, Shawn Stinson, and Kelley Stinson; one brother, Dana “Buzz” Brown; six grandchildren, Cory Morris, Amanda Lancaster, Jenifer Stark, Shaynna McKinley, Brianna Stark, and Kayla Stinson; ten great-grandchildren, Natalie Morris, Eva Morris, Allie McKinley, Peyton Lancaster, Aubrey Sage Lancaster, Chance Wikert, Kaidy McKinley, Brice Stinson, Freyja Lancaster, and Everett Lancaster; and many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home of Mountain Grove.
