Sarah 'Edith' 'Edie' Graves

November 18, 1925 — March 23, 2009

Sarah “Edith” Graves, the fifth child of eight born to the late Jess H. and Mary E. (Ussery) Davis, was born on November 18, 1925 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri and departed this life on March 23, 2009 in the Ozark Nursing and Care Center in Ozark, Missouri, following a long illness. She was 83 years, 4 months, and 5 days of age.
Edith grew up and attended school in Wright County, Missouri and was united in marriage to James Robert “Bob” Graves. Two children were born to this union.
Edith was employed by St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Missouri as a housekeeper and retired following twenty-five years of service.
“Edie” as she was lovingly called by her family and friends, enjoyed sewing and tending to her vegetable gardens. She especially enjoyed raising tomatoes each year.
Edie loved her family very much and looked forward to spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her sister, and her nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Floyd Davis who passed away during WWII, Terrell Davis and Harry Davis; and by three sisters: Lee Thomas, Wilma Connell, and Mildred Pasley.
She is survived by her son: Jerry Lee Graves of Ozark, Missouri; her daughter and son-in-law: Patsy and James Parker of Ozark, Missouri; one sister: Dolly Stigall of Norwood, Missouri; two grandchildren: Rob Haskins and Tabitha Hendrix; three great-grandchildren; Corey Haskins, Melody Haskins and Kayla Haskins; several nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.


Graveside Services:
Friday, March 27, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Thomas Cemetery located near Norwood, MO.
Visitation:
Thursday, March 26, 2009 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
