Sandra Jo McGowan, age 63, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 2, 2020. Sandra was born on September 11, 1956, in Cabool, Missouri, to Leo and Fern (Fry) Hill. Raised in Mountain Grove, Missouri, in a Christian home, Sandra was saved at the age of 9. At that young age, she prayed that God would make her a pastor’s wife.
On October 3, 1975, she married her high school sweetheart, David McGowan. The following year they moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where they attended Bible college and God answered her childhood prayer of making her a pastor’s wife. Sandra had a heart for ministry. She served alongside her husband in several churches spending the last 25 years in Michigan. She did any job that needed to be done. She taught herself to play the piano when the church lacked a musician. She helped to start a daycare and school and even taught in the school. She led youth groups, taught Sunday school, organized ladies’ ministries, cleaned the church, and truly cared for others. She was known for her unwavering faith and genuine joy. She was always ready to listen to you, cry with you, and pray for you. She touched many lives and will be truly missed.
“A woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.” Proverbs 31:30
