Russell W. Hutsell, age 94, son of Randall Hutsell and Emma Carter Hutsell, was born July 29, 1928, in Wright County, Missouri. He passed away November 15, 2022 at Covenant Village Care Center in Plantation, Florida, with his daughter and son-in-law at his bedside.
Russell was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Hutsell; his parents, Randall and Emma Hutsell; and his two sisters, Lucille Carr and Val Hall.
He is survived by his daughter, Kaye LeGrow of Weston, Florida, and his son, Randy Hutsell of Dallas, Texas; his brother, Doyle Hutsell of Houston, Missouri; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Russell grew up in the Mountain Grove area and graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1947. He married Geraldine McKinney March 26, 1949. After their wedding, they moved to Rawlins, Wyoming, where Russell served as a fireman on the Union Pacific Railroad. Later they moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where Russell worked for Bishop Construction Company as a superintendent for over 40 years. Some of his projects included banks, colleges, fire stations, post offices, schools, supermarkets and warehouses. Russell was a member of the Carpenters Local 61. During this time, he helped judge carpenter apprentices for several years with the School of Construction. Russell enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, pheasant and deer hunting, family float trips and camping. He retired in Florida to help care for his wife.
Russell was a man of his word and helped many people during his lifetime. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
