Russell Borden Cozort, born December 5, 1933, passed from Mountain Grove to Paradise on December 4, 2016. He was born in Wiseman, Arkansas to Velmer Borden and Mabel Lee (Montgomery) Cozort along with a sister and brother. The family moved from Arkansas to Michigan in 1948 to find work.
He eventually met Shirley Ann Hosbein while picking strawberries and married her on July 2, 1954 at 6:00 AM. To this union four children were born: Keith, Kathryn, Kevin, and Kimberly, plus they added one foster daughter, Hope King.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Oma Lee Cozort Gregg.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Ann (Hosbein) Cozort, two sons, Keith and Cheryl Cozort, and Kevin Cozort of Mountain Grove, Missouri, two daughters, Jim and Kathryn Cozort Holway of Miami, Florida, and Kimberly Jackson of Cordova, Tennessee, one foster daughter, Hope King, one brother, James Ray Cozort of Booneville, Mississippi, one brother-in-law, Don Gregg of Athens, Alabama, one son-in-law, Bobby Jackson, of Barlett, Tennessee, nine grandchildren, Adam and Shea Cozort, Nathan and Ashley Cozort, Aaron and Edy Cozort, Blake and Kristi Holway Bond, Bryan and Sarah Holway Kelly, Jeremy Holway, Jim and Blair Jackson Thomas, William and Brooke Jackson Clay, Brett Jackson, fourteen great-grandchildren plus one on the way, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be greatly missed.
