Rudolph I. Burger

April 21, 1922 — February 28, 2007

Rudolph I. Burger, son of the late Joseph and Bertha (Mueller) Burger, was born on April 21, 1922 in Liebenstadt, Germany, and departed this life on February 28, 2007 in the Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri, following a long illness. He was 84 years, 10 months, and 7 days of age.
At the age of six, Rudolph moved with his family to Ohio where he grew up and attended school. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was honorably discharged on April 21, 1946.
He was employed as a Cartographer (map maker) for twenty-nine years. He had lived in the Norwood, Missouri area for the past thirteen years. He was united in marriage to Jessie Mae Gray on July 14, 1991 in Kettering, Ohio.
Rudolph was a caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Mtn. Grove, Missouri where he enjoyed attending services.
Rudolph is survived by his loving wife: Jessie Mae Burger of their home; four sons: Eric Burger of Wheatland, Maryland, Brian Burger, Calvin Burger, and Aaron Burger and his wife, LaDonna, all of Kansas City, Missouri; one daughter: Diana Kenny and her husband, Patrick of St. Charles, Missouri; one sister: Berta Dietrich of Merritt Island, Florida; three grandchildren: Elizabeth, Amy, and Joseph; several cousins; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Rudolph Burger were held Monday, March 5, 2:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel with Pastors John Knobloch and Craig Wiles officiating. Nancy Littrell, Chuck Tantone, Jennifer Davis, Becky Saylor and Charles Tantone served as singers. Jeannie Maddox served as musician. Song selections were “It Is Well With My Soul,” “Till The Storm Passes By,” and “Old Rugged Cross.” Pallbearers were Eric Burger, Brian Burger, Calvin Burger, Aaron Burger, Terry Burgess, and John Sornson. Full military honors were provided at the cemetery by The Lima Team with Jared Moore serving as bugler. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, MO.
