Ruby Mae Baker-Bennett

Ruby Mae (Skaggs) Bennett-Baker, daughter of the late Joseph and Jane (Curtner) Skaggs, was born on June 22, 1924 in Bendavis, Missouri and departed this life on May 28, 2010 in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mountain Grove, Missouri at 85 years of age.
Ruby grew up and attended school in Texas County and was united in marriage to Claude Baker on January 7, 1941 in Houston, Missouri. Ten children were born to this union. Claude preceded her in death on December 24, 1971. She later married Earl Bennett. He passed away in 1996.
Ruby had always made her home in the Bendavis area and was employed at the Sunny Hill Poultry Plant for several years and also worked for Brown Shoe Company in Mountain Grove. Ruby enjoyed working on the farm, quilting, sewing, cooking, gardening, and canning. Her way of life was to put others first. She always had more than enough love for everyone. Ruby attended the Roby Assembly of God Church for many years where she enjoyed visiting with her church family and friends.
Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two sons: Raymond and Delbert Baker; one daughter: Mary Crewse; one brother: Clarence Skaggs; two sisters: Ruth Leighty and Gurtie Baker; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Ruby is survived by three sons: Dearl Baker and his wife , Barbara, of Mountain Grove, Ronnie Baker and his wife, Teresa, of Houston, Missouri, Ralph Baker and his wife, Dianna, of Lynchburg, Missouri; four daughters: Maxine Berry of Mountain Grove, Wanda Barnes of Grovespring, Missouri, Linda Pearce and her husband, Dave, of Mountain Grove, and Phyllis Coffman and her husband, Johnny, of Vanzant, Missouri; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives, neighbors, and church family who miss her dearly.

Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 10:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Visitation:
Tuesday, June 1, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the chapel.
