Ross Andrew Ellis

Ross Andrew Ellis, son of the late Earl Clayton and Bessie Lee (Hutsell) Ellis was born on Septemer 24, 1922 in Dawson, Missouri, and passed away on September 26, 2014 at Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mountain Grove, Missouri at 92 years of age.
Ross grew up in the Dawson community and graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1940. He married Marilyn Freeman in June 1944. Three children were born to this union. Ross married Shirley Prock on April 29, 2001.
Ross was a dairy farmer for 40 years, but later, he ran a substantial beef cattle operation. He was also an auctioneer for many years.
Ross loved to quail and coon hunt and he enjoyed square dancing. He loved to ride horses and organized many trail rides on his farm.

Ross was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Mountain Grove, Missouri, where he greatly enjoyed attending.
Besides his parents, Ross was preceded in death by his first wife: Marilyn; and one step-daughter: Teresa Prock.
He is survived by his loving wife: Shirley Ellis; one son: Sherrel Ellis; two daughters: Carole Mitchell and her husband, John, and Geraldine Emery and her husband, Randy; one step-son: Connie Prock; and one step-daughter: Kay Gasperson and her husband, Gary, all of Mountain Grove, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends who will dearly miss him.


Visitation: Monday, September 29, 2014 from 6:00 - 7:00 PM at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 10 AM at the First Free Will Baptist Church, Mtn. Grove.

Burial: Friendship Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial Contributions: Friendship Cemetery or Gideons c/o the funeral home.
