Ronnie Gene Dugger, son of the late William Wesley and Carlee Belle (Hurt) Dugger, was born June 2, 1935, in Wright County, Missouri . He went to his Heavenly home on February 28, 2020. He was 84 years, 8 months, and 26 days of age.
Ronnie grew up in the Owens-Broyles communities. At the age of 20, Ronnie met the love of his life, Iretta Leighty. They were married December 17, 1955. In April 1957, they welcomed the birth of their son, Roger. During their years together, they enjoyed going fishing, going to auctions and flea markets, and going to music shows in Branson. Ronnie looked forward to fish fries with his friends and family. He also enjoyed hunting. In December of 1999, Iretta was diagnosed with cancer. For the next 18 years, Ronnie became a devoted caregiver. They were married for 62 years before Iretta passed away on January 8, 2018.
Ronnie was saved at a young age and years later rededicated his life to God. He and Iretta attended Corner Stone Free Will Baptist Church as long as their health allowed.
Ronnie made many friends during his lifetime. Many have commented on what a great person he was. He was the kind of man that never said anything bad about anyone. The comment was recently made, “Wish there were more people like Ronnie Dugger. What a better world we would have to live in.” Ronnie recently told his son how thankful he was to have him living with him and taking care of him. He was also thankful for a special niece, Kay Sartor, for staying with him while Roger did errands.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Iretta, three sisters, Cleo Moore, Pauline Spain, and Virginia West, and one brother, Clifford Dugger.
He is survived by his son, Roger of Mountain Grove, Missouri, one brother, Bob Dugger of Hartville, Missouri, two sisters-in-law, Fern Hurt of Carthage, Missouri, and Agnes Leighty of Marshfield, Missouri, many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors who will dearly miss him. The family would like to give a special thank you to Hospice Compassus for their care.
