Ronald M. Marshall, son of the late Freeman Bert and Lilly (Haas) Marshall, was born on March 6, 1921 in Shelby, Iowa and departed this life on March 2, 2008 in the Christian Health Care in Republic, Missouri, following a long illness, at 86 years of age.
Ronald grew up in Iowa and served his country in the United States Army Air Force. He entered the service on October 24, 1942 during World War II and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and was honorably discharged on February 16, 1946 as a Sergeant. During his time of service he was an airplane and engine mechanic, which he enjoyed very much.
To receive his training for the military he was sent to William’s Air Force Base in Chandler, Arizona. While living in Arizona he met his future wife, Irene wood. Following his discharge he returned to Arizona where he was united in marriage to Irene on May 29, 1946. This union was blessed with three children: Linda, Jeanette, and David Bert.
In May of 1959 while on vacation to Iowa, Ronald and Irene came through Missouri and decided to purchase a seventy acre farm north of Mtn. Grove. In September of that year, they moved their family from Arizona to Missouri and never looked back. They loved living in the Ozarks where they made many friends over the years. They recently made their home in the Springfield, Missouri area where they were living at the time of his passing.
Ronald enjoyed farming over the years and was also a truck driver for many years. He was a long time member of the Willow Springs Freewill Baptist Church near Mtn. Grove.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Pat and Gale Marshall.
He is survived by his loving wife: Irene Marshall of their home in Springfield, Missouri; one son: David Bert Marshall of Mtn. Grove; two daughters: Linda Ballinger and her husband, Bill, of Battlefield, Missouri, and Jeanette Wisdom and her husband, James, of Lawrence, Kansas; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him very much.
