Roland "Ron" Cawthron

June 15, 1961 — July 31, 2024

Mountain Grove

Roland “Ron” Dean Cawthron, son of Roland Dexter Cawthron and Jeanette Ruth Lewis, was born in Yakima, Washington, on June 15, 1961, and passed away on July 31, 2024, peacefully in his home with Linda by his side.

Ron grew up on farms, milking cows, riding horses, training his dogs, and working hard alongside his dad and uncles. Ron spent his freshman year living in Alaska. He returned to Mountain Grove and began playing football again. He loved the game and the discipline it involved. He received the SCA Honorable Mention as a Senior Strong Safety. He also trained in Karate during high school. He graduated in 1979.

After graduation, Ron worked oil fields in Oklahoma and New Mexico, offshore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, Mississippi River barges, over the road trucker, and logged timber in Missouri and Alaska. He worked hard and traveled all over the United States.

Ron loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing and working with animals. He had a big heart and would give you the shirt off his back or anything you needed.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, and a very special young man, Isam Hicks.

Ron is survived by his son, Cole and Lacie Cawthron, grandchildren Everett, Waylon, InaMae, and Truemond Cawthron, of Jacksonville, Florida, sister, Robin Todd, niece, Sabrina Campbell, great-niece, Shelby Honeycutt, great-nephews, Spencer and Bryceton Honeycutt, and the love of his life, Linda Yeager Strunk all of Mountain Grove, Missouri and a host of family and friends that will miss him dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 2:00P.M. – 4:00 P.M. at Maple and Main Event Center, 125 W. Second St., just off Public Square.
