Roland Paul Mudge, son of the late Carroll and Eva (Mills) Mudge, was born March 9, 1937, in Escondido, California, and departed this life on June 2, 2023, in Grovespring, Missouri. He was 86 years, 2 months, and 24 days of age.
On June 25, 1955, Roland married Dorothy June Schreur in Escondido, California, and to this union two sons and five daughters were born, Kenneth, Ron, Carolyn, Evelyn, Maggie, Helen, and Hannah. They also adopted and unconditionally loved three boys, Roger, Sam, and Alex.
Roland honorably served his country in the United States Navy, before receiving his discharge into the reserves in 1959.
Prior to retirement Roland owned a dairy farm, and for 25 years he loved and worked that farm alongside his family. He also made missions work and drilled wells. He traveled to many places throughout his mission work, and he would travel to drill wells in rural villages, so the village people would have access to water. His mission work took him all over the country and the world, from, Haiti to, Africa, and even to Ethiopia.
Roland enjoyed spending time with family and friends in many forms. He was a man with a huge heart and a gift for changing lives. He devoted a lot of time mentoring and encouraging others. Roland helped establish Celebrate Recovery in the Grovespring Area and took pride in helping people combat the darkness of recovery. He had a special place in his heart for guiding and mentoring troubled teens.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Roger and Sam Mudge, a granddaughter, Beverly, a grandson, David, a great-grandson, Remington, and a sister, Edna.
Roland will be deeply missed by his wife, Dorothy Mudge of Grovespring, Missouri, three sons, Kenneth Mudge and wife, Diane, of Grovespring, Ron Mudge and wife, Jessie, of Grovespring, and Alex Mudge and wife, Hannah, of Springfield, Missouri, five daughters, Carolyn Adams and husband, Steven, of Marshfield, Missouri, Evelyn Mudge of Grovespring, Maggie Smith and husband, Carl, of Anabel, Missouri, Helen Merely and husband, Kevin, of Toledo, Washington, and Hannah Dickens and husband, Ricky, of Grovespring, Missouri, 42 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, three brothers, Kenneth Mudge of Redlands, California, Edward Mudge of Day Island, Washington, and Wesley Mudge of La Jolla, California, two sisters, Florence Reisen of Monrovia, California, and Eleanor Nichols of Puyallup, Washington, nieces, nephews, many other relatives , and friends.
