Roland Maynard Clark

July 17, 1933 — November 30, 2008

Roland Maynard Clark, son of the late Abrom Theodore and Hazel Geneva (Holt) Clark, was born on July 17, 1933 in Vanzant, Missouri, and departed this life on November 30, 2008 in Rockport, Texas in Arkansas County. He was 75 years, 4 months and 13 days of age.
Roland moved from the Vanzant area to Coffeyville, Kansas at the age of seven and attended the Coffeyville School and graduated from Field Kenley High School in 1951. He attended Coffeyville Community College until he was drafted into the United States Army in July of 1953 serving in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1955. He was united in marriage to Betty Jo Wilson on February 28, 1953 in Coffeyville, Kansas.
He was employed by Junges Bakery in Coffeyville from 1951 to 1959. He later graduated from Southwest Missouri State University majoring in economics and business.
He was employed for thirty-one years by Phillips 66 Petroleum (Conoco Phillips) as the District Sales Manager and field representative in Owensboro, Kentucky, Des Moines, Iowa, Fargo, North Dakota, Rapid City, South Dakota, and Emporia, Kansas. He retired in 1993.
Roland’s hobbies included summer camping in Colorado, trout fishing in the Gunnison Colorado basin along the Gunnison and Taylor rivers and up the Taylor Valley since 1957 and fishing the Aransas bay waters in Rockport and Fulton, Texas in the winter season. Following his retirement, he and Betty moved to Forsyth, Missouri and continued to enjoy dividing the year between Forsyth, Missouri and Rockport, Texas. Roland was a member of the American Legion Post 0363 in Rockport, Texas, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5168in Forsyth, Missouri, and the B.P.O.E. in Fargo, North Dakota.
He is survived his loving wife Betty Jo Clark of their home; two brothers: Hugh Wayne Clark and his wife, Wanda, of Vanzant, Missouri and Mike Clark and his wife, Mabel of Coffeyville, Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him very much.
