Mary Roberta (Turner) Dixon, daughter of the late Glen and Clara (Gleason) Turner, was born September 26, 1934, in West Plains, Missouri, and departed this life January 16, 2023, in Cabool, Missouri. She was 88 years, 3 months, and 21 days of age.
Roberta lived most of her life in Wright and Douglas counties, where she taught school and coached various sports. She worked with Cub Scouts and she also served her church in a number of capacities.
In her free time, Roberta enjoyed all manner of crafts, spending hours knitting and crocheting sweaters, hats, scarves, blankets, and anything her creative brain could come up with. She filled her home with needlepoint pictures and hand painted figures for all seasons, including a village of painted rocks. Her baking skills were second to none, and her pies and cinnamon rolls are the “stuff of legend”.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Clara Turner, her sister, Louise Roberts, and two sons, Thomas Shelton Alsup and Dale Edgar Alsup.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Dixon, of the home in Mountain Grove, her first husband and the father of her children, Tom Alsup of Cabool, Missouri, two sons, Stephen Alsup and his wife, Debbie, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Danny Alsup and his wife, Jan, of Mountain Grove, two sisters, Barbara Weakley of Fairfield, Ohio, and Sue Thomas of Mountain Grove, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.
