Roberta Ann McGinnis, daughter of the late Lesley and Pearl (Alumbaugh) Reed, was born on January 12, 1933 in Humboldt, Kansas and departed this life on Monday, August 11, 2009 in Irmo, South Carolina, following a long illness. She was 76 years, 6 months and 29 days of age.
Roberta grew up in Huggins, Missouri and attended the Number One School near Huggins, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Carlos Dean Long on February 23, 1950 in Hartville, Missouri and one daughter was born to this union. They made their home in Mtn. Grove. Mr. Long passed away suddenly on January 27, 1979.
She was later married to Robert Louis McGinnis on December 24, 1980 in Goose Creek, South Carolina. They also made their home in Mtn. Grove where they shared the same interests of gardening and traveling. They were also active in their church and family. Mr. McGinnis preceded her in death on May 17, 1993.
Roberta made her home in South Carolina for the past seven years to be near her daughter and family.
Roberta was a long time member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Mtn. Grove. She was also a member of the Divine Quilters in Columbia, South Carolina.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter: Sherry Leschinsky of Irmo, South Carolina; one step-son: Mike McGinnis; four step-daughters: Patricia Tannen of Fresno, California, Pamela Homeister and her husband, William, of Springfield, Missouri, Susan Jones of Huggins, Missouri and Donna McGinnis of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; one granddaughter: Martina Leschinsky; eleven step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Friday, August 14, 10:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Visitation:
Friday, 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM before the service.
