Rita T. Williams

Rita T. Williams, daughter of the late Simon and Jossie (Cannon) Tallent, was born on March 8, 1921 in Little Rock, Arkansas and departed this life on May 21, 2009 in the Kabul Nursing Home in Cabool, Missouri. She was 88 years, 2 months, and 13 days of age.
At a young age, Rita moved with her family to California in the late 1920’s where she attended school. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Chester Williams on October 5, 1940 in Carson City, Nevada. Two sons were born to this union.
Rita and Kenneth moved to Missouri in 1957 where they lived in the Norwood area for many years. For the past nine years, she made her home in Mtn. Grove.
Rita enjoyed crocheting, gardening, playing cards and she was known as a master quilter. One of her favorite pastimes was fishing.
She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor and friend. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Kenneth C. Williams on May 30, 1967; and by ten brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law: Eugene and Carmelita Williams of Buckeye, Arizona and Gary and Barbara Williams of West Greenwich, Rhode Island; five grandchildren: Michael Williams, Christopher Williams, Lisa Finneran, Gary A. Williams, and Jennifer Fontaine; three great-grandchildren: Caitlin Finneran, Connor Fontaine and Riley Fontaine; one sister: Christine Conley of Napa, California; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; extended family; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Wednesday, May 27, 2009 from 2:00 - 3:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Graveside Service and Burial:
Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at 3:00 PM in the Hillcrest Cemetery.
