Rickey Eugene Mitchell

January 14, 1957 — April 24, 2011

Rickey Eugene Mitchell, son of Johnnie and Dorothy (Tilman) Mitchell, was born on January 14, 1957 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri and departed this life on April 24, 2011 in the Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri, at 54 years of age.
Rickey grew up and attended school in Mtn. Grove and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in 1975. He was a member of the Mtn. Grove High School Band for six years and the marching band for four years. He was employed by Brown Shoe Company for eighteen years until the factory closed. He later worked for Copeland Industries in Ava, Missouri until his health started failing.
In 2001, he was blessed with a son, Noah, which was the love and joy of his life. He enjoyed all kinds of sports. He never missed a ballgame when his son was playing and he attended all of the Mtn. Grove Football games.
He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal's fan and enjoyed collecting baseball cards. He also loved to fish and spend time with his son whenever he could.
He was preceded in death by his father: Johnnie Mitchell in 1999; and by seven uncles: Gary Mitchell, Roy Mitchell, Terry Mitchell, Gaylord Mitchell, Freddie Mitchell, Glenn Mitchell and Roy Burdick; and by three aunts: Mary Charpentier, Jackie Mitchell and Grace Riley.
He is survived by his mother: Dorothy Mitchell of Mtn. Grove; his son: Noah Mitchell, age 9, of Mansfield, Missouri; one brother: Brian Mitchell of Mtn. Grove; two sisters: Carolyn Graham and her husband, Billy, and Kathryn Turner and her husband, Jerry, all of Mtn. Grove; two uncles: Darrell Mitchell and his wife, Nadine, of Blue Springs, Missouri, Robert Mitchell and his wife, Sonja, of Norwood, Missouri; aunts: Barbara Burdick of Hartville, Missouri, Ann Mitchell, Emma Mitchell, both of Mtn. Grove and Mary Mitchell of Hartville, Missouri; several cousins; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial Contributions:
