Rick L. Fry

December 27, 1957 — January 29, 2007

Ricky Lee Fry, son of Wallace Beverly and Carlene (Todd) Fry, was born on December 27, 1957 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, and departed this life on January 29, 2007 in the Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri, after a courageous time with cancer. He was 49 years, 1 month, and 2 days of age.
Rick grew up in Mtn. Grove and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School as the Valedictorian of the Class of 1976.
He continued his education and received an Engineering Degree from the University of Missouri in Rolla, and graduated in the top five percent of his Class in 1980.
Rick loved his worked and enjoyed being in different places in the United States for Boeing Aircraft and other aeronautical companies. He also worked in Scotland for British Aerospace and enjoyed his time there and had many stories to tell.
Rick loved his work and the aerospace industry. He was planning on learning to fly an airplane and getting his pilot’s license when he learned of his illness. He also loved playing baseball and some of his family’s happiest times were when they were watching him play because he was an exceptionally good player. He liked building things and gardening. God blessed his family with a very good garden to enjoy this past summer. He was also an avid race car fan, and enjoyed watching car racing with his dad and relatives.
Rick and his family were blessed with being able to take many vacations together. He and his father took trips to watch NASCAR races around the country. He liked working on cars throughout his adult life. He was also blessed with a large family, and he and his sister, Vicki, enjoyed riding their bicycles while growing up. They enjoyed the wonderful happy times spent in Mtn. Grove with their cousins: Tom, Tammy, and Tracy Todd. The five of them took overnight trips to Grandma and Grandpa Todd’s house and enjoyed their farm.
Rick and Vicki enjoyed spending time with all their cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. They also grew up knowing and dearly loving, Bill and Lora Hurtt, known to them as Grandma and Grandpa Hurtt. They had wonderful times when they were small under their mother’s loving care and while she was working with their father to provide for them. They enjoyed the time under the babysitting care of Vonna (Duey) Douglass and Donna (Duey) Hazlett, and others.
There are many precious memories throughout life with Rick. He was saved at an early age and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He loved his church family and we have comfort in knowing that he is now with many of them who have preceded him to their Heavenly home with God.
He was working in Wichita, Kansas when he decided to take time off during his father’s illness and he came home to Mtn. Grove to help with his father’s care. Rick learned of his cancer a year and one month ago, shortly after his father went to his Heavenly home. Besides his father, he is preceded in death by his grandparents: Mr. & Mrs. Ernie Todd, and Mr. & Mrs. Henry Fry.
He is survived by his mother: Carlene Fry; his sister: Vicki Fry; numerous aunts; uncles; cousins; and a host of friends. Rick is dearly loved and will be missed by those who knew him. We have the comfort in knowing he is safe, and will never be in pain again. He will only know happiness and love in his eternal home.
