Richard Ray Campbell, son of the late Ralph and Edna (Robinson) Campbell, was born on June 2, 1930 in Oelwein, Iowa, and departed this life on November 22, 2007, in the St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield, Missouri following a month long illness. He was 77 years, 5 months, and 20 days of age.
Richard grew up in Iowa and Missouri where he attended small rural one room schools. He was united in marriage to Pauline Freeman on January 25, 1951 in Salem, Arkansas. Five children were born to this union.
He enjoyed his work as an automobile re-builder and he also liked to tinker on tractors. He was an honest hard-working man who always put others first. Anyone could call or stop by and ask him for help and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. Richard also liked listening to Bluegrass music in his spare time.
He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, neighbor and friend. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Larry Campbell.
He is survived by his wife: Pauline Campbell of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; four daughters: Linda Sanders of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, Marilyn Campbell of Lebanon, Missouri, Donna Sparks and her husband, Jefferson, of Norwood, Missouri, and Teresa Ebert of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; one brother: Milton Campbell of Norwood, Missouri; one sister: Carol Campbell of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
