Richard Norman Jarrett, son of Erman Floyd Jarrett and Nora Marie (Holland) Jarrett, was born March 13, 1935, at Norwood, Missouri, and departed this life November 8, 2024, at Glenwood Healthcare in Seymour, Missouri, at the age of 89 years, 7 months, and 7 days.
On August 1, 1955, he was united in marriage to Betty Keller and to this union five children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Steven Jarrett; five brothers, Billy, Gerald, Harry, Gene, and Farris Jarrett.
Norman is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home; three daughters, Lois Findley and husband, Kevin, and Kay Lansdown and husband, Larry, all of Mansfield, Missouri, and Glenda Ganus of Springfield, Missouri; son, Rick Jarrett and wife, Teresa, of Mansfield, Missouri; nine grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great grandchildren.
He was born and raised at Norwood where he graduated from Norwood High School in the Class of 1953. He started work at Peck Station in Norwood for 75 cents per hour; worked at Sugar Creek Creamery in Mansfield from 1960-1967; finished his working career at Hutchens Industries in Mansfield where he worked from 1970 until retiring in 1995. He also sold insurance and loved trading cars, “often”. In fact, years ago he traded his station wagon for a Volkswagen Beetle and he, Betty, their four kids, and two other relatives made a trip to Chicago that they will never forget, especially Glenda, who had to ride in the rear window over the engine.
Norman accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at an early age. Reverend R.E. Helsley baptized him at Union Grove/Caudle Free Will Baptist Church. He was baptized a second time by Reverend Johnny Stapp when he attended Corinth Baptist Church. He had attended Wolf Creek Free Will Baptist Church for many years where he made many long- lasting friends. He recently attended Cold Creek Cowboy Church and loved his Cold Creek family, and they loved him right back.
In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling, especially out west. He loved watching and following anything his grandkids did from racing, rodeos, basketball, baseball, and always kept up with the Ava Bears football team to see how far they could go.
Norman was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. He had a giving heart and would give you the shirt off his back. We celebrate his life and have many special memories that we will always cherish.
