Richard John Jarrett

June 17, 1932 — June 16, 2009

Richard John “Dick” Jarrett, son of the late Richard Wayne and Emily Lucille (Cowan) Jarrett, was born on June 17, 1932 in Tulare, California and passed away on June 16, 2009 in Klamath Falls, Oregon on June 16, 2009. He was 76 years of age.

At the age of 10, Dick and his family moved to Norwood, Missouri to work the family homestead.

Following graduation from high school, Dick served in the Korean Conflict. He was later honorably discharged and moved to Wichita, Kansas. He obtained a degree in electronics and his FCC license from Wichita Technical Institute. Next he worked for a radio station, and later became an Aircraft Electrician contract employee.

He met the love of his life, Peggy Joyce Cole, in 1958 and the couple married in 1960 in Clearwater, Kansas.

Dick’s work took him to numerous locations as he worked for Air Mod Company, Boeing Aircraft, and Dyna-Electron, and other aircraft companies. The couple finally settled in Reno, Nevada in 1961 where he worked for the Nevada Air National Guard for 25 years. Next he transferred to Klamath County to work for the Oregon Air National Guard until retirement in 1989.

Being raised during the Great Depression, he lived by the motto that there is no junk … only re-useable material. And with that mind-set, he had a passion for fixing things to make them useable again.
He will be missed by his wife of 49 years: Peggy Jarrett of Malin, Oregon; children and their spouses: JoLynn Jarrett of Malin, Oregon, Melody Draper of Brinnon, Washington, John and Cherlynn Jarrett, and Diana and Frank Bushey both of Reno, Nevada; his grandchildren: Tiffanie Jarrett, Aunna Mattice, John C. Jarrett, Kenneth Bushey, Jason Bushey, Christopher Bushey, and Jarrett Bushey, and Michael Draper, Matthew Draper, Mitchell Draper, and Meghan Draper; great-grandchildren: Aiden Draper and Landon Draper; his sisters: Margaret Wooden , June Corrine Gentry, and Mary Elizabeth Jarrett; brother and sister-in-law: Eugene Rosslynn and Patti Jarrett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
